One of the world's most notorious hackers, Sombra uses information to manipulate those in power. As she works to uncover the truth behind a shadowy global conspiracy, Sombra has joined the ranks of Talon, exploiting their resources for her own ends.
Early life
Long before she took up the alias "Sombra," Olivia Colomar was among the millions of children who were left orphaned in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis. With much of her country's infrastructure destroyed, she survived by utilizing her natural gifts with hacking and computers. After Olivia was taken in by Mexico's Los Muertos gang, she aided it in its self-styled revolution against the government. Los Muertos believed that the rebuilding of Mexico had primarily benefited the rich and the influential, leaving behind those who were most in need of assistance. Following her many conquests, Olivia was supremely confident in her skills, but she was caught unprepared when she stumbled into the web of a global conspiracy—one that had also noticed her. With her security irreparably compromised, Olivia was forced to delete all traces of her identity and go into hiding.
Talon
She later reemerged as Sombra, upgraded and determined to find out the truth behind the conspiracy she had uncovered. Sombra launched an even more audacious string of hacks, and her exploits earned her no shortage of admirers, including Talon. She joined the organization's ranks and is believed to have assisted Reaper in the kidnapping of Dr. Siebren de Kuiper, besides contributing to massive cyberattacks against corporations with strong ties to government. These efforts incited a popular revolution in Mexico against LumériCo and breached the security of Volskaya Industries, the manufacturing arm of Russia's anti-omnic defense. The Volskaya mission in particular highlighted Sombra’s questionable allegiances. Going rogue on an assassination mission against the company’s CEO, Sombra blackmailed her instead. In return, Katya Volskaya sent her own powerful ally, Zarya, after the hacker. Though Zarya was successful in finding Sombra, Sombra revealed Katya’s secret dealings with omnics and escaped. Once Doomfist released himself from prison and reworked Talon’s inner council, Sombra played an important part in the renewed organization, which, more importantly, brought her a few steps closer to her own goal. Olivia led digital terrorism efforts that directly enabled Doomfist to complete his missions in high-value areas such as Rome and Numbani. Whatever services she provides for Talon, only a fool would forget that Sombra’s agenda is her own. But while Sombra remains on the hunt for her prey, Talon gets the best hacker money can’t buy.
Reign of talon
Sombra had no desire to serve a Talon controlled by Vendetta, choosing to leave on her own terms. However, with Sigma still held prisoner by Talon, she continues to operate from the shadows, keeping a careful eye on every situation about to unfold.
Sombra Tips
- 1Follow up a Hack immediately — the ability disables window is short and enemies will use movement abilities the moment they can; press the advantage instantly.
- 2Place Translocator in a safe spot (behind cover, on a ledge) at the start of every engagement so you always have an escape option if the fight goes wrong.
- 3EMP destroys all shields (Zarya bubbles, Sigma barriers, Ramattra Void Barrier) and debuffs the entire team — use it to break high-value shield setups before your team engages.
- 4Stealth has sound cues when activated and deactivated near enemies; time your decloaks to coincide with loud environmental noise to avoid giving away your position.
Support Overview
Support heroes are the lifeline of any team composition. While healing is their primary function, modern Overwatch 2 supports are far more than passive healers — many have significant damage potential, strong movement abilities, and fight-altering ultimates. The skill of a great support player lies in constantly prioritizing: who needs healing most right now, when to apply offensive pressure, and when to reposition for survival.
Positioning
Supports thrive in the midrange between the frontline and the team's backline. Too far forward and flankers will pick you; too far back and your healing won't reach your tank. Always maintain line of sight to your highest-priority heal target, use cover to block flanking routes, and position near an escape path when aggressive enemies are nearby.
