When adventure calls, Sloan Cameron always answers. As a member of the Wayfinder Society, Sloan travels the world, using their excavating tools to uncover artifacts and protect archaeological sites from looters, thieves, and more dangerous criminal organizations.
A born archaeologist
Sloan Cameron had an affinity for finding lost things since they were a child. They never lived in one place for long, and each new home meant a new expedition—on which they unearthed treasures, trinkets, and traces of the past. Their unusual talent drew them to the Wayfinder Society: a group of archaeologists and historians from around the globe. At sixteen, they started an apprenticeship with the organization and never looked back.
The wayfinder society
Due to their unfettered bravery, Sloan was a unique addition to the brilliant minds of the Wayfinders. From ancient ruins to dormant omniums, dangerous expeditions quickly became their go-to assignments. They often returned from digs covered in dirt, bruises, and local fauna, but always with a smile on their face, eager to learn about the artifacts they’d recovered. Their dedication eventually saw them graduate from their apprenticeship, making them a full-fledged member of the Wayfinder Society.
Rise to the challenge
Sloan’s fearlessness came in handy for more than just expeditions. With increasing threats to Wayfinder sites, security often fell into their hands. Looters, scavengers, even master thieves would try to steal artifacts recovered by the Wayfinders. But with their excavating tools and quick wit, Sloan managed to fend off any would-be troublemakers.
A new mystery
While on site at Ilios, Sloan had to grapple with their most challenging enemy yet: Talon. The shadowy organization plundered the site with reckless abandon, leaving Sloan with no choice but to stand up to them. After a long-fought scrap, Sloan succeeded in driving them out. But in the wake of the attack, something stuck in their mind. What would such a powerful organization be hunting for in these ruins? It was a mystery, indeed… and Sloan could never leave a mystery unsolved.
Venture Tips
- 1Burrow removes you from the field entirely, blocking all incoming damage — use it to dodge ultimates and lethal burst combos, not just to reposition offensively.
- 2Clobber's knockup creates a brief airborne window where enemies can't escape; follow it immediately with a Drill Dash or full shotgun unload to convert the stun into a kill.
- 3Vary your Burrow entry and exit positions; emerging from the same spot repeatedly makes your resurfacing angle predictable and easy to pre-aim.
- 4Venture excels in mid-range brawling where all pellets from the Ranger connect — move into the optimal distance bracket before opening fire for maximum consistency.
Damage Overview
Damage heroes are the primary source of eliminations and pick potential on any team. Whether they operate from long range or dive into close quarters, their goal is to remove high-value targets and create openings for their team. Damage heroes vary enormously in playstyle — some demand precise aim, others reward aggressive positioning. Understanding your hero's range and engagement windows is the foundation of effective damage play.
Positioning
Positioning varies dramatically by hero archetype. Hitscan and sniper heroes seek high ground and open sightlines. Flankers need cover-dense paths to approach from unexpected angles. Regardless of style, always know your escape route before you commit to an engagement — getting caught in a bad position as a damage hero means a fast death.
