Story

A founding member of the notorious Deadlock Gang, Cassidy was eventually coerced into joining Blackwatch, Overwatch’s covert-ops division. He came to believe he could make amends for his past by righting the world’s injustices. But when Overwatch fell, Cassidy went underground, resurfacing later as a gunslinger for hire, fighting only for causes he believes are just.

Blackwatch

Blackwatch

Cassidy had already made a name for himself as a member of the notorious Deadlock Rebels Gang, when he and his associates were busted in an Overwatch sting operation. With his expert marksmanship and resourcefulness, he was given the choice between rotting in a maximum-security lockup and joining Blackwatch, Overwatch's covert ops division. He chose the latter. Although he was initially cynical, he came to believe that he could make amends for his past sins by righting the injustices of the world. Cassidy appreciated the flexibility afforded to the clandestine Blackwatch, unhindered by bureaucracy and red tape. But as Overwatch's influence waned, rogue elements within Blackwatch sought to bring down the organization and turn it to their own ends. After the destruction of Overwatch's Swiss HQ, Cassidy wanted no part of the infighting. He set off alone and went underground.

Post overwatch

Post overwatch

He resurfaced several years later as a gunslinger for hire, fighting for causes he believed were just. But trouble has a way of finding old outlaws, and Cassidy’s list of enemies is long. He fought Talon while aboard a hypertrain in Texas and busted a heist by his former Deadlock Rebel allies in New Mexico. During the latter incursion, he freed Echo, the life’s work of his late friend, Dr. Mina Liao. After Cassidy received the call to rejoin Overwatch, a nostalgic run-in with Ana Amari had the gunslinger contemplating his future. Presented with growing security threats around the world and the possibilities afforded by a new team, Cassidy went on a mission to recruit heroes forged from various incursions around the globe. Reinforced with fresh faces, Cassidy and his new recruits are out in full force to strengthen Overwatch's presence worldwide.

Reign of talon

Reign of talon

During a Talon operation at Grand Mesa, Cassidy was deployed to intercept unwelcome guests. There, he found himself face to face with his old companions: the Deadlock Gang. As Overwatch and Helix Securities recover from the attack, Cassidy faces misunderstandings between him and friends of the past. Time will tell whether his business with the gang is really finished.

Cassidy Strategy Guide

Cassidy Tips

  1. 1Fan the Hammer deals massive burst damage at close-mid range — use it as a follow-up after a Magnetic Grenade stick for a reliable kill combo.
  2. 2Magnetic Grenade tracks and sticks to enemies, but the key skill is throwing it around corners and walls to hit targets that think they're safe.
  3. 3Deadeye charges damage over time; the longer you stay locked on, the higher the damage. Clear sightlines with multiple enemies maximize its value.
  4. 4Cassidy's base revolver is accurate and powerful — at mid-range, careful single-shot aim outperforms rushed Fan the Hammer.

Damage Overview

Damage heroes are the primary source of eliminations and pick potential on any team. Whether they operate from long range or dive into close quarters, their goal is to remove high-value targets and create openings for their team. Damage heroes vary enormously in playstyle — some demand precise aim, others reward aggressive positioning. Understanding your hero's range and engagement windows is the foundation of effective damage play.

Positioning

Positioning varies dramatically by hero archetype. Hitscan and sniper heroes seek high ground and open sightlines. Flankers need cover-dense paths to approach from unexpected angles. Regardless of style, always know your escape route before you commit to an engagement — getting caught in a bad position as a damage hero means a fast death.

Strengths

  • +Highest single-target damage output to secure quick eliminations
  • +Pick potential that creates numerical advantages for your team
  • +Flanking options to disrupt enemy backline and supports
  • +Ultimate abilities with fight-ending potential

Weaknesses

  • Lower health than tanks makes positioning mistakes costly
  • Reliant on team resources (heals, peel) when focused
  • Overextension leads to isolation and being picked off easily
  • Effectiveness heavily depends on target selection and aim
