Story

Gabriel Reyes was once an esteemed member of Overwatch, first as its Strike Commander and then as the leader of Blackwatch, Overwatch’s branch for covert operations. He was believed dead following an explosion at Overwatch’s headquarters. But rumors say he escaped his fate, and now works as the volatile killer known only as Reaper, one of Talon’s deadliest enforcers.

Sightings

Sightings

The Reaper is an extremely volatile mercenary, a ruthless and remorseless killer responsible for terrorist attacks across the world . . . In New Mexico, where scientist Siebren de Kuiper was kidnapped from a black site facility. In Russia, amid an assassination plot against Volskaya Industries’ Katya Volskaya. In Venice, where the body of Talon leader Augusto Vialli was found amid the carnage. Even in more public places—the Overwatch Museum in New York—Reaper was narrowly thwarted in stealing the Doomfist gauntlet. Survivors have described a black shadow ghosting unscathed through the most hellish battlefields. The few bodies recovered of those he kills are pale, empty husks drained of life, their cells showing signs of intense degradation. It is possible that he is a byproduct of failed genetic alteration which forces his cells to simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. Those tracking his movements have begun to see a pattern in his appearances. They believe that the Reaper is hunting former Overwatch agents and systematically eliminating them, a hypothesis supported by his infiltration of Watchpoint: Gibraltar, where he sought a list of the names and locations of former Overwatch agents. His breach was only partially successful, as he and his team were driven into retreat by Winston.

Talon

Talon

The truth, known to few, is that the Reaper is former Blackwatch Commander Gabriel Reyes, long thought deceased in the destruction of Overwatch’s Swiss Headquarters. After Overwatch’s capture of Doomfist, Reyes was swayed to Talon’s side, frustrated by the bureaucracy and red tape that constantly kept him from attaining true justice in Overwatch. In Egypt, Reyes came face to face with two other restless ghosts from his past: former Overwatch Strike Commander Jack Morrison and Captain Ana Amari. Though the three comrades had little to say to each other, their paths are likely to cross again. After all, their names are among the many on Reaper’s list.

Reign of talon

As soon as Vendetta assumed control of Talon, Reaper went dark. He neither cared for Vendetta's goals nor did he believe his life would be spared —especially since he was responsible for her father's demise.

Reaper Strategy Guide

Reaper Tips

  1. 1Shadow Step behind enemy lines, then immediately Blossom — the surprise positioning at point-blank range makes Death Blossom nearly impossible to escape.
  2. 2Lifesteal from shotgun pellets is substantial at close range; sustain through skirmishes by staying on top of enemies rather than backing off to heal.
  3. 3Shadow Step has audible sound cues that enemies can hear — use environmental noise (ultimate chaos, ability clashes) to mask the teleport sound when possible.
  4. 4Wraith Form cancels most debuffs including Sleep Dart and Steel Trap; use it reactively the moment a crowd control lands to immediately escape the chain.

Damage Overview

Damage heroes are the primary source of eliminations and pick potential on any team. Whether they operate from long range or dive into close quarters, their goal is to remove high-value targets and create openings for their team. Damage heroes vary enormously in playstyle — some demand precise aim, others reward aggressive positioning. Understanding your hero's range and engagement windows is the foundation of effective damage play.

Positioning

Positioning varies dramatically by hero archetype. Hitscan and sniper heroes seek high ground and open sightlines. Flankers need cover-dense paths to approach from unexpected angles. Regardless of style, always know your escape route before you commit to an engagement — getting caught in a bad position as a damage hero means a fast death.

Strengths

  • +Highest single-target damage output to secure quick eliminations
  • +Pick potential that creates numerical advantages for your team
  • +Flanking options to disrupt enemy backline and supports
  • +Ultimate abilities with fight-ending potential

Weaknesses

  • Lower health than tanks makes positioning mistakes costly
  • Reliant on team resources (heals, peel) when focused
  • Overextension leads to isolation and being picked off easily
  • Effectiveness heavily depends on target selection and aim
